The Lonely Astronaut
A work in progress stop-motion animation film written and directed by myself. An astronaut and his companion are separated from each other due to losing control of their spaceship when entering the atmosphere of an unknown planet. Over the course of the film, the two are on a journey of finding each other whilst manoeuvring through treacherous environments. This is currently a work in progress and should be completed by May.
Thirsty Planet Advert: Behind The Scenes
As well as creating a campaign advert for the company Thirsty Planet, myself and the rest of the group were tasked to create a behind the scenes film, this will show the creation of the advert. Throughout this behind the scenes film, you will see myself and the two other people in my group being interviewed; providing information on our participation and engagement of the campaign. The behind the scenes also shows the advert starting in pre-production all the way to the exporting of the finished advert.
Game Over
I wanted my film to be about video game obsession and escapism from reality into the world of video games. To do this, I decided to mix real world footage using the footage shot using a Go-Pro, as well as footage recording using a variety of first-person video games. This was used to give off the feeling that the character is losing is mind, not knowing what is reality and what is virtual reality. However, to have both real world footage and video game footage in a film, I had to make a transition between them for the viewers to know what he’s going into the virtual world. I was able to do this by created a glitch/television static effect.
This film is about a young university student who is obsessed with video games so much, that he finds it difficult to tell the difference between reality and virtual reality.
Life Of A Model
The documentary ‘Life of a Model’ provides and insight into the modelling industry. Interviews with three models discussing their time in the industry.
The main argument I wish to communicate to my audience is whether or not the modelling career is as easy as just getting pictures taken of yourself whilst doing different poses.
Griefing
A short film used in my final year exhibition (2016). I used Minecraft to show something going out with the new, and in with the used since this was the theme of the exhibition. Since I am very fond of video games and had already created a project used the, I felt that this could be a another project in which I use them. Using my graphics card’s recoding software, I was able tor record myself playing Minecraft.
Eyes Of Plymouth
Eyes of Plymouth was an experimental time-lapse film for a university project. Myself and my friend attempted to find beauty within the city of Plymouth and recorded timelapses in these locations. The time of year was perfected as well, as it was late autumn so the colour of the leaves were incredible.
Am I Dreaming?
Am I Dreaming was my first major project since starting university. The film is about a deranged teen who wants to rid the psychotic visions she’s been experiencing, but is faced with the dilemma as to whether the nightmare she’s been living up to now is reality or a dream. This project gave me ideas to follow on since: Game Over a film about obsession and depression is one of the examples.
